Alana is always talking about how she wants a BMW (black man working) but he has to be college-educated, a professional, own his own home, drive a luxury car, be 6 ft or taller, work out regularly, be good to his mama, never have been to jail, have no kids or crazy baby mamas and not be crazy himself. I just want a man who would meet just one or two of those qualifications. Is it even possible to find a black man that has all of those qualities. What is it like 500 brothas? It can’t be more than a couple of thousand.
I’m going to calculate it. There’s about what 300 some million people in the US. 13%of the total population are black folks - so what’s that? Round it down to 10% to make it easy. I barely remember Algebra 2 so I’m not going to judge myself for not be able to make that calculation. So 10% is 30 million.
Then we have to narrow the field down to folks between the ages of 18 and 45. 18 is young but I think that’s how they break down demographics. So let’s say for that 18 to 45 demographic is maybe 50%? Is that too low? 50% of 30 million is 15 million. Now I need to divide that by half cause I’m going to assume for simplicity’s sake that half of the population is male.
So I think that there are 7.5 million black men in America between the ages of 18 and 45. Now I need to weigh and calculate all the variables of traits that she wants and that should get me my number.
And I don’t have time, nor knowledge of how to do that.
So I’m just going to take men who are or have been incarcerated. I’m going to be generous and say that is only about one third of the 18 through 45 black male population so that’s one third of 5.7 million. Round that to 6 million and that leaves 2 million.
2-fucking-million black men. In the entire country. That’s the number she’s working with.
An I still haven’t adjusted for distribution. Those mofos aren’t all in the same city! The major metro areas are probably Atlanta, Chicago, NYC. Houston? Oakland? LA? Maybe St. Louis? So NYC should get X percent of that number, Atlanta, x percent, Chicago x percent, Houston I don’t know x percent? How many more percents do I have?
